Frank A. Vicari, MD, FACS, FAAP, devotes his spare time to his family, as well as his horses and dogs. While the doctor is widely recognized for many of his professional achievements, he remains known best for having been the first surgeon in the world to perform minimally invasive, endoscopic-assisted craniofacial procedures for craniosynostosis.  Moreover, he has pioneered mandibular distraction for airway management in children with hypoplastic (small) mandibles. Dr. Vicari has been responsible for the creation of such programs as the Congenital Hand Clinic and the Head Shape Evaluation Clinic, which is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of children with “flat heads”. Frank A. Vicari, MD, FACS, FAAP, is a 1982-graduate of the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, IL. His postgraduate training includes his combined general surgery and plastic surgery residency served at the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine (1982-1988). Moreover, Dr. Vicari fellowship trained in pediatric plastic surgery at the Hospital for Sick Kids in Toronto, Ontario and fellowship trained in craniofacial surgery at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital.  Dr. Vicari completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry as well as a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He attained board certification in plastic surgery with the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
